Glossary term
Pegged Exchange Rate
A pegged exchange rate is a system where a country’s currency value is fixed or linked to another major currency, such as the US dollar, or a basket of currencies. The central bank maintains this fixed rate by intervening in the forex market. This approach helps maintain currency stability, control inflation, and provide predictability in international trade and financial transactions.
